The 34th Army Concert Band of the Iowa Army National Guard, stationed in Fairfield and the only military band in the state of Iowa. The band is under the command and direction of CW2 Kent C. Wesselink, of Eagle Grove and 1SG Brent T. Krumboltz of Beardstown, Illinois. The mission of the band is to provide music throughout the spectrum of military operations and instill in our soldiers the will to fight and win, foster the support of our citizens and promote our national interests at home and abroad. The 34th Army Band is made up of citizen soldiers whose civilian occupations include teachers, salesmen, corporate management, engineers, and students. Members of the band live throughout Iowa, Illinois, and Nebraska. The 34th Army Band has performed in various locations across Iowa, the continental United States and overseas.
The current focus of the 34th Army Band has been developing smaller Musical Performance Teams (MPTs) to expand their ability to support more musical requests both for the military and community relations events throughout Iowa. Current MPTs include the Concert Band, Ceremonial band, Sidewinders Rock Band (playing at this event), Scrap Metal popular Music group, Patriots Fife and Drum MPT, Iowa Brass Command MPT and Operation Groove jazz ensemble.
